At the end of October I was in a friend’s wedding. Because of COVID reschedules and precautions we ended up understaffed for both hair and makeup for all of the bridesmaids. So I did my own hair and make up!
When taking photos with the other bridesmaids before the ceremony, one of the girls delighted me when she exclaimed, “Wow how do you not have circles under your eyes?” As a mom with a one-year-old baby boy what a compliment!
With the right tools, the right products, and the right camera angles you can also surprise your friends by how good you look (even when sleep deprived). In this post, I’m going to share my favorite beauty products that I use almost daily (when I actually do my makeup 😅) and that I luckily had with me in the get-ready room at the wedding. These are the staples in my cosmetics bag that I can use for an everyday look or glam it up to be a bridesmaid!
If you’ve never been a guest at an Indian Hindu wedding, you may not know that it’s a three-day celebration full of various events and outfit changes. So my makeup every day had. to. last. It had to last through dance parties, ceremonies, meals, and more dance parties. These are the beauty products that surived long days and some slightly sweaty situations 😅 so I have to recommend them.

- L’Oreal Pro Glow in 201 and Pro-Matte in 102 foundations
- e.l.f. hydrating camo concealer in fair warm (the yellow undertones help to hide those pesky under-eye circles.
- Estee Lauder palette for my eyeshadow and blush. Estee Lauder has hands down my favorite eyeshadows! They’re so easy to apply and build color, and most have their palettes have matte and shimmer colors so you’ll always have options.
- e.l.f. Mist and Set Finishing Spray. Inexpensive and it works!
- Urban Decay Brow Blade. I don’t often worry about filling or shaping my eyebrows when doing my everyday makeup, but for special events and photoshoots, I do like to lightly fill in a few areas of my brows.
- Palladio Liquid Eyeliner. It’s a small bottle so it fits neatly in your makeup bag of any size and it’s shaped well with a shorter handle for accurate application to your eye line.
- and lastly, false eyelashes like these from Nordstrom! I favor daintier lashes, even when going full-glam.

A handbag carried during the day is usually larger than the one that you’ll be taking to dinner. No matter what the occasion, it is never appropriate to put one’s handbag on the table-it is considered extremely rude no matter how expensive or beautiful it is. We often place our handbag on the kitchen counter, a bench, and some even momentarily meet the floor so for hygiene reasons alone, it is not acceptable.
