KCFW Thursday Sep 2024

My favorite time of year is probably Fashion Week. When that coincides with a trip with my sister to one of my favorite cities, you know it has to be a good time.

Here’s my recap of the Thursday night show of Kansas City Fashion Week.

Trends from Kansas City Fashion Week

Bold glam & edgy sophistication on the runway and in the audience at Kansas City Fashion Week!

Alexia King Atelier

Alexia King opened with leather and fishnets, for a sexy start to Thursday’s show. She sweetened bold elements with bubble skirts, bolero jackets, and 3D hearts, creating a dark Disney princess vibe for this womenswear collection.

Brianna Lanee

Custom ready-to-wear and eveningwear from Brianna Lanee walked the runway in rich shades of blue, burgundy, and black – and I got to see one my favorite models (and designer) on the runway again: miss Brooklyn was as gorgeous as ever!

More Lashays

If you aren’t humming “Cruella de Vil” while watching Lashay Mitchell’s latest black, white, and red collection on the KCFW runway, your childhood was lacking some Disney magic.

Zemfira

One of my absolute favorite collections at Kansas City Fashion Week this season! This detail, structure, and design was reminiscent of Salacious Fruit, but the inspiration for textiles and silhouette was central Asia and ancient Kyrgyz Oimo.

Sarah Elizabeth

This collection my have been my sister’s favorite; the olive green, soft gold tones, and draping were more fabulous versions of what she was already wearing to the runway show!

K Made It

Kenya Martin’s African-inspired clohing closed the show with energy & color. I think the designer herself should have walked the runway several times in her different creations because she was just so much fun to watch as she danced up & down the catwalk during her finale.

So, what did Nikki think of her first fashion week experience? She is already recommending I attend other fashion weeks, like NOLA (hit me up, please if you’ve got any connections there!).

She’s doing a recap of her Kansas City trip on her instagram, @travelnurseswife so follow her there for more!

Shop My Look

While my top was thrifted and my skirt vintage, I have found similar pieces online for you to shop! Keep in mind, some of the best quality and prices when you’re looking for essentials or event-specific garments are found at consignment shops & thrift stores. Everything I wore to to attend the runway show on Thursday night I already had in my closet (or my mom’s 😉).
