From bold new takes on prints to unexpected color combinations, the designers in this region are definitely thinking outside the box. Here are some of my favorite runway trends from fashion week in Kansas City.
Menswear-Inspired Styles
One of the hottest trends to come out of the Midwest is menswear-inspired styles for women. This trend is all about tomboy chic and taking style cues from the boys. Think blazers, button-down shirts, loafers, and even decorative ties. To pull off this look, pair masculine pieces with more feminine accents like a floral and bright prints.

Cool Crochet
Threading the needle between crafty and sophisticated craftsmanship, crochet and woven textiles were HOT on the ruway this season. I saw both monochromatic ensembles and colorful iterations from several designers.

Metallics
Kansas City is no stranger to disco on the runway, and metallics shimmered and sparkles in neutrals and colors for multiple designers’ collections. 80s nostalgia is big business, and who doesn’t like a bit of glitz and glamourus separates and dresses?

Unexpected Pops of Color
We’re used to seeing bold colors in the summertime, but this year they’re making an appearance on the fall runway as well. Designers are playing with unexpected color combinations and pairing vivid shades with one another: royal blue with hot pink, kelly green with bright yellow. If you’re feeling brave, try pairing a vivid pink dress with a lime green jacket. Or go for something slightly more subdued by pairing navy blue pants with a bright orange top. Whatever combination you choose, make sure your colors clash in the best way possible!
This was a trend popular on the runway, and in the audience.

Statement Sleeves and Silhouettes
This season is all about making a statement—and there’s no better way to do that than with bold, dramatic sleeves. We’ve seen billowing sleeves, ruffled sleeves, and even sleeves adorned with sequins and beads. If you’re looking for a way to add some excitement to your outfit, go for a piece with an eye-catching sleeve. Whether you choose something subtle or over-the-top, we guarantee you’ll turn heads when you walk into a room!

So, what do you think of these KC fashion trends? Are you loving the bold prints and colors as much as I am? Which runway look is your favorite? Which trends are you most excited to try out in your own wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below – I’d love to hear from you.
