3. Ready-to-wear runway shows
Prēt-a-Porter is a French term that literally means “ready to wear”, and it refers to the designing of clothing in advance of an actual season or collection.
Ready-to-wear runway shows are produced by larger brands, featuring collections that can be purchased off the rack at their stores. These events tend to be professional and high-profile, with models walking down the runway in clothes that customers can actually buy. There is a strong focus on consistency, because the designs and garments created are hoping to be sold at a variety of different stores or chains.
It can be high fashion, but not necessarily. The designer can choose to show her or his line in private to press, editors, and other special guests, before showing it during a fashion week event. It is also sometimes referred to as “see now, buy now” because designers are selling clothing in stores within weeks of the runway show.
4. Bridal runway show
Bridal fashion runway shows celebrate bridal wear and are usually reserved for designers who specialize in wedding fashion. These events give viewers an idea of what brides might wear on their special day and how they can combine different elements depending on the season or theme. 4. Swim runway show
The latest in swimsuits and swim accessories! Swimwear runway shows are usually limited to resort wear and spring/summer collections.
Fashion shows are not limited to clothing! Some designers will choose to focus on other areas during their runway shows, such as hair or makeup. These types of runway shows can be very creative, and they’re a good way to test the waters and see if there’s an interest in your brand.
