What to Know Before Attending Your First Fashion Show

1. Dress appropriately for the occasion!

Figure out what the dress code will be for the event. Some fashion shows require a business casual look while others might ask you wear all black so that your outfit doesn’t distract from what’s being presented on stage. Knowing what to expect before arriving at the show is key in ensuring that you’re dressed appropriately and don’t stand out from the crowd.

  • If you’re not sure what to wear to a fashion show, ask a friend who’s been before what they wore and follow their lead!
  • Fashion shows can get crowded so wearing clothes that are easy to move around in is always best!
  • Don’t forget your shoes either – it might be hard to walk in heels at an outdoor venue with gravel or grass!
  • Finally, remember that what you wear is not nearly as important as being there to have fun and support new designers! Fashion shows can be overwhelming but if you prepare beforehand then it will go much more smoothly.

If you’re not familiar with dressing up or wearing makeup, this might feel like a lot of pressure, but it’s worth it. By dressing appropriately for the occasion and knowing what to expect before arriving at the event, you’ll be able to check out your first fashion show and enjoy what’s happening on stage without worrying about your attire.

2. How do I get tickets?

There are several ways that you can get tickets to shows. Many people are given free tickets to attend fashion shows, and this is a great way to check out what it’s like. However, if you’re buying your own ticket, they can be pretty expensive- starting at $100 for some of the more popular ones.

If you want to know what time the show starts or what designers will be showing, then be sure to check it out online.

3. What can I do at a fashion show besides watch it from the front row?

There can be a lot going on at a fashion show and there is more to it than just the runway. There are meet and greets, interviews, photo ops, and shopping that come before, during, and after the event.

It’s also worth noting that most fashion shows last around four hours so if you’re catching one for the first time, be sure to dress comfortably (heels aren’t always best)! What most people don’t know is that the fashion show doesn’t start when everyone comes in and sits down; rather, what actually happens during a fashion show is quite different from what you might assume. There are some other cool things to look out for before the official runway show even starts.

  • There’s an opening act! Usually, this guest designer or artist has a connection with what’s being shown and performs a short show to “warm up” the audience.
  • The models may come out first, sometimes wearing looks from previous collections or pieces that are already available for purchase. This is usually when people take their seats so they can see what will be presented on stage more clearly.
  • Sometimes there are breaks in the presentations when people can move around and take photos of what’s being shown or intermissions between designers’ showcases.
  • The actual runway show only takes up roughly thirty minutes out of a potential four-hour event, which means that there are several other things to do before models ever hit the catwalk! Meet and greets, interviews, photo ops, shopping, and more.
