San Antonio Moments

Here is a little visual diary from our most recent trip to the River walk; it only lasted a few short days but they were all so perfect. ❤️

When a love is true, there is no ending.

When we pulled into the valet line at the Omni La Mansión del Rio, I could tell exactly why he had chosen this downtown hotel. The interior design is so inviting and cozy, with a Spanish hacienda flair that you almost have to have in San Antonio and the location was ideal for visiting all the tourist attractions of the River Walk.

A Weekend on the San Antonio River Walk

Night 1: a leisurely stroll through the River Walk that turned into a progressive dinner and Christmas decorations tour. Appetizers and wine at Ostra, live music and snacks at On The Bend Oyster Bar, and ice cream cone at Justin’s Ice Cream to finish the night.

Day 2: Brian surprised me with an amazing spa day at the unbeatable Mokara Spa. It. was my first spa day ever and I joked with Brian that now I was ruined for any spa less than 4 stars (Mokara is San Antonio’s only 4-star spa).

My Mokara Spa treatment recommendations?

The Lemongrass Mimosa Body Scrub. If you have to pick between a massage and the scrub, choose the scrub (and the massage wasn’t anything to sneer at). The treatment was in a steamy room that warmed and relaxed you, and then combined an exfoliating scrub, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, and massage all in one fabulous treatment. Even if the treatment didn’t actually do anything, I still felt amazing after it.

Night 2: The River Walk wining and dining continues!

Drinks at Domingo Restaurant‘s cavernous bar while we waited for our table at The Esquire and dinner at Landry’s Seafood House upstairs bar where we enjoyed the live music, delicious cocktails (if you like sweet and aromatic, try the Sparkling Lavender!), and fresh seafood.

Day 3: A slow start with a late breakfast at Las Canarias and then a wild scooter ride through downtown San Antonio to the San Antonio Museum of Art a few blocks away.

After the museum – and returning safely to the hotel – we ordered cappuccinos from the hotel bar to remind us of our time in Italy and I settled in by the fireplace with a book and my warm drink while Brian watched the F1 race from earlier that morning.

Maybe a little sappy to say our favorite part of today was video calling GiGi and blowing kisses with our little one.

Night 3: We finally dressed up! We planned to meet friends we hadn’t seen since COVID for dinner at Domingo’s since it had made such a good impression on us the night before.

A coule drinks and some Mexican-inspired tapas later, we were ready to return to the Omni pool deck to catch up around the firepit for a slow wind-down before they split off for a late-night poker game and Brian and I settled in for some fireside reading.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorite things to do on the San Antonio River Walk! If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, the River Walk is great and perfect for any type of budget. There are plenty of restaurants and bars on both sides of the river where you can enjoy an evening with your partner or friends. It has a romantic feel to it that’ll make you want to stay all weekend long.
